What we do

Simply put, Timber & Ash studio is a custom furnishings woodworking studio creating custom designs for our customers. It’s all about creating unique products that fit into your space which reflects your lifestyle and experience.

We start with understanding your needs and what you are looking to achieve with your special pieces. After which concepts are discussed and designs are generated and finalized.

The results; a custom piece that will be forever treasured by your family for generations.

Who we are

Timber and Ash studio consist of a daughter and father team working together to bring unique custom creations to life.

Jenny:

Jenny has a very acute sense for detail and excels in interior design, fashion, and accessories. She understands your needs and works directly with each customer ensuring that the concepts are spot on to your requirements. She brings a fresh eye to everything we do and helps to keep us pushing the envelope to new, different exciting designs. With a master’s in education and a registered nurse working in emergency rooms in Detroit and Chicago, she has a passionate background in helping and caring for people which translates into generating ideas focused on your needs and wants.

Don:

Don grew up in a large family dynamic which was led by a mother that was an artist and a father that was a true MacGyver when it came to DIY and everyday life. Like his mother he excelled at art and design but like his father he received a heavy education in making things and making them right. Majoring in furniture design, Don worked designing products not only in the furniture industry but as well in the major appliance, marine, and architectural industries throughout his career. He knows design, materials, and processes which are used in the right combinations, creating original aesthetic designs.

Together, utilizing both of their skill sets they bring the final product to you as your custom design which will fit with your lifestyle. We look forward to working with you to design your special design for your home.

Material Selection

We utilize many different materials in the construction of our designs which could consist of wood, steel, iron, cement, aluminum, stainless steel, fabrics, etc. It really comes down to what the design requires. We do however try to obtain materials that are local to the West Michigan area, including wood from Amish woodlots, local forest and reclaimed lumber from farms, factories, cottages and older homes. In our search for the right materials we consider the grain pattern, color and texture of each piece and how it adds to the design and aesthetics.

We are always on the look out for reclaimed materials that will enhance the design as well as adding to the history of each piece.

Taking our time to find the right materials is part of the process and it shows in the results.
